Introducing Paoli Chiropractor Dr. Lori Kalie

Dr.

Simply put, I was a skeptic… I was attending a pharmacy school with the intention of getting a job doing research for a drug company after I graduated from college. I had constant upper back pain that most likely originated from riding (and falling off of) horses when I was younger. In college, I could not stand the pain anymore and my mom made me go to her chiropractor to get help. Chiropractic was my last resort for getting rid of my pain. He was a great doctor that taught me the philosophy of chiropractic, about nutrition, and spinal rehabilitation. As I learned more about chiropractic my last year in college, the more it made sense for me to continue my education at a chiropractic school and not in the pharmaceutical industry. I developed a passion for chiropractic at that time that continues on today. I realized that drugs have never cured anyone of any condition, and they definitely were not the future of health care. Chiropractic changed my life, and I decided that I wanted to educate and help other people the way my chiropractor helped me.

I graduated from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science in 1997 with a B.S. in Microbiology and a minor in Biochemistry. I then decided to attend the prestigious Life University College of Chiropractic in Marietta, GA, which is the best chiropractic school in the country. I decided to go there because of its great reputation for quality education and diversity in spinal adjusting classes. I was taught many different adjusting techniques for many different types of patients and conditions. I graduated Cum Laude from Life University in 2001. Most of my post-graduate education has been in physical medicine rehabilitation of the spine and extremities. Although, I treat all kind of neuromuscular conditions, my area of expertise lies in the rehabilitation of sports injuries. Many athletes in the area come to see me after injuring themselves because I quickly get them back to playing the sport that they are passionate about.

You will find our office to be patient-centered, and you will be made to feel at home the minute you walk in the door. My staff is friendly, and we truly care about every single person that walks in our door. You will receive individualized attention from the very first visit. My goal in practice is to get the patient back to health as quickly as possible. My philosophy is quite simple - I work with my patients as a team effort. We each have our separate jobs to do. I will only accept a patient case as long as the patient agrees to work as hard as I do in reaching their health goals. I enjoy teaching patients about how to change their lives and adopt a healthier lifestyle by eating right, taking the proper supplements, exercise, and keeping their nervous system function at an optimum through chiropractic care.

I grew up in Northeast Pennsylvania, where my parents still live. I have never been married, nor do I have any children. I have a great family consisting of my mom, dad, and two younger sisters. One sister is a teacher and the other is a nurse. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, traveling, and working out.

My partner, Dr. Glazer, adjusts me at least twice a week. Adjusting patients is physically demanding on my part, so my spine tends to misalign faster than someone with a less physically demanding job. Adjustments keep me feeling great and physically at my best in order to do my job. I also never get colds or get sick. I attribute that to keeping my immune system strong through adjustments. I do strength training, different types of cardiovascular exercise, stretching, and yoga. I used to be an avid runner, but I have come to realize that diversifying my workouts and instituting muscle confusion by changing what I do everyday produces the best and fastest results. I also eat a very healthy diet consisting mostly of protein, vegetables, and fruit. I eat very little sugar, white flour, and pasta. I don’t eat any meat, but I do eat all types of fish and seafood for protein. I do not take myself (nor do I recommend to my patients) antibiotics, over-the-counter painkillers, or vaccinations. I have studied the side effects of these on the body and have seen first hand the adverse effects that people have due to these chemicals and toxins. We do, however, recommend nutritional supplements in our office. Supplements are more effective than pharmaceuticals and do not have the side effects that you will see with medications.

Dr. Lori Asks some important questions of interest to Paoli residents - Chiropractor Paoli Dr. Lori Asks...

How could chiropractic help a stomach problem?
Chiropractic works by locating and reducing areas of the spine compromising nerve communications between your brain and your body. If nerves to or from your stomach are irritated, your stomach won't work right. Chiropractors find the source of the interference, reduce it and allow your body to work as designed.
How long does it take to form a bone spur?
Many who begin chiropractic care think their problem happened "last week when you bent over funny." But pictures of the spine tell a different story. Chiropractors know it can take your body years to deposit the calcium necessary to form a bone spur. It's your body's response to stress due to gravity or joint malfunction. And chiropractic care can help.
